I’ve never felt entirely comfortable with surrogacy (though I understand the need it addresses) because I worry that in the end, it disproportionately involves vulnerable people who turn to it out of financial necessity. Ideally, no one should have to put themselves at such risk just to improve their circumstances.
I also hadn’t thought about adoption the way you described it. I used to see it as simply ‘taking in children who have been left behind,’ but your perspective makes me realise there’s more to it…
